I love love love Paris. My favourite place to go! Make sure you go see the sacred heart church “l’église du sacré cœur”. One of my favourite stops for sure. There is a little art market outside of it an the best French crêpe stand ever. Also just down the hill from Sacré Cœur is the Moulin Rouge which is good for a couple photos if nothing else.

Take the metro whenever you can. It’s a great way to get around. Also don’t just do touristy stuff (of course). Try and find little hole in the wall cafés and places where they don’t speak any English.

Finally make sure you have stuff with Canadian flags on them. Most French people love Canadians but “déteste les maudites américains”. I got screamed at once when someone thought I was American, and then they came back and apologized when thy saw my Canadian flag and heard me speaking French. Buy some cheap Canada flag stickers or pins to hand out to people who help you out!

All in all, have an awesome trip. I look forward to reading about it when you get back!!

What? Our road trip out to Vancouver when Monster 2 was a baby doesn’t count? Gawd, you were still breastfeeding him then. Was it really that long ago? Feeling old now.

Brenda – you are certainly correct and I also find it rude. I will say that I asked my phone companion to hold on, and had the phone off to my side. I went back to him because the service was taking SO long and I didn’t want him to think I had hung up. I do agree with you tho – I never claim perfection. Thank you very much for your feedback!

You did receive terrible service, however, I do consider it rude to be talking on the phone at food counters.

ok, you are right about Betty. I just called she was a sweetheart. Helping me plan a birthday party for a gaggle of girls which include guests who are peanut allergic, lactose intolerant and vegans–on top of general food pickiness! I also like the way she calls me “dear”. Fairmont is great but they’ll never have a waterslide like the Delta!

Make sure you are prepared for a “behavioural interview”. If you have never participated in one, google it. Have notes with you.. about previous experiences. Behavioural Interviews are the “Tell me about a time when…” types. Be armed with as much information about the job, the company and the ups and downs (ha ha – pun intended a little bit) of the industry.
